Why Studifit Exists: Psychological Counseling for Students and Apprentices

Studifit exists because many students and apprentices need support but don't want to wait weeks for a conversation. Studifit is the service Psychofit offers for exactly this group: psychological counseling by video, with the same counselors and the same supervision.
In this post, you'll read how much strain students and apprentices are under according to recent surveys, what we see in our own numbers, and when another place to turn is a better fit.
How stressed are students and apprentices?
In short: a large share feel stressed on a regular basis. The numbers are well above those from 2015.
For the TK-Dossier 2026, the polling institute Forsa surveyed around 1,000 students in early 2026. 41% often feel stressed, and another 45% sometimes do. In 2015, the share of students who often felt stressed was 23%. Around 35% show high or very high emotional exhaustion.
Things don't look better for apprentices (Azubis, people in vocational training). In the Ausbildungsreport 2026 by DGB-Jugend (the youth organization of the German Trade Union Confederation), 50.6% of a little over 13,000 respondents say they are under psychological strain. 41.7% of those under strain checked that they can't talk to anyone about it. The question asked about the workplace, vocational school, and counseling services; family and friends were not among the options.
| Survey | Group | Result |
|---|---|---|
| TK-Dossier 2026 | Students | 41% often stressed, 35% highly emotionally exhausted |
| DGB Ausbildungsreport 2026 | Apprentices | 50.6% under psychological strain |
What students wish for
More services for mental health.
The TK-Dossier 2026 also asked students which health topics interest them. Around 71% named mental health. Only starting a career drew more interest, at around 77%.
That's where we want to help: an appointment in the evening, by video, with no commute and no waiting room.
Your first stop is often free
Before you book with us: many Studierendenwerke and universities offer free psychological counseling. It's a good first stop.
According to the Zahlenspiegel of the Deutsches Studierendenwerk (the annual statistics of the national association of student services organizations), 45 of 57 Studierendenwerke (the student services organizations at German universities) offered psychological counseling in 2024. Around 42,000 students had one-on-one sessions there. How to get there and how long you'll wait is covered in our post on psychosocial counseling at the Studierendenwerk.
More free places to turn:
- the Zentrale Studienberatung (central academic advising office) at your university for questions about your studies themselves
- the training advisors (Ausbildungsberatung) at your chamber (Kammer, such as the chamber of commerce or of skilled crafts) when things go wrong at work (more in our post Stress in Vocational Training: Conflicts, Pressure, and Thoughts of Quitting)
- the TelefonSeelsorge (free crisis line, 24/7, in German) at 0800 111 0 111, anonymous
What we see in our own numbers
Students and apprentices already make up a large share of the people who come to Psychofit.
Roughly two out of five people who pay for a session at Psychofit are in college or doing an apprenticeship. For us, that was reason enough to build a separate service with its own content for this stage of life.
Who counsels you at Studifit
Our counselors are psychologists with at least a bachelor's degree in psychology, supervised by licensed psychotherapists.
They are the same people who counsel at Psychofit. What a psychology bachelor's degree covers and where the line to psychotherapy lies is explained in detail in the post Who counsels you at Studifit.
Important for context: Studifit is psychological counseling. That means it is not psychotherapy, it is not covered by health insurance, and we make no diagnoses. If you have a mental illness, please keep looking for a therapist at the same time. What you can do while you wait is covered in the post Finding a Therapy Slot as a Student: What You Can Do While You Wait.
How Studifit and Psychofit are connected
Studifit is a service of Psychofit, with the same contract, the same counselors, and the same money-back guarantee.
Studifit is offered by Philipp Scholz & Ronny Glotzbach GbR Psychofit Psychologische Beratung, Haßloch. The rate for students and apprentices is the same for both brands; you'll find the current amounts on the pricing page. After college or your apprenticeship, you can continue at Psychofit, and your account stays.
If you'd like to know whether counseling fits your concern, you can start with a free introductory call by phone. Answers to common questions are in the FAQ.
If you are in a very bad place right now
Studifit is not a crisis service. In an acute crisis, you can reach the TelefonSeelsorge for free and around the clock at 0800 111 0 111 or 0800 111 0 222. If your life is in danger, call 112. You'll find more numbers on our page Help in a crisis.
